An Old German Station

An Old German Station

The original German name of the station can be seen to the left of the station.  The station is current lived in so care was taken not to image and respect their privacy.

If you can see the little boy in red, he is looking into the cellar of the goods depot of the station which is not lived in.  The cellar was huge and had an amazing ceiling.  Above his head are square holes.  In these holes were wood beams and upon those beam would have been the wooden flooring allowing goods to the loaded or unloaded from visiting road vehicles.

To the left of the station is the main single track coming into and splitting into 4 track sections. In the back ground to the left is the old Engine Shed a double on at that.  Again this in now lived in and has been converted very nicely with work ongoing.  Again privacy is respected so no close up images of this splendid structure.  This line as you can see is very over grown.

Coming back towards the station we found this section of track - looking down the hole showed a strange set of machinery (I have seen something like it before) and can but presume this was a servicing area for the locomotives.  If you also look to the right of the boy you can just make out the bricked area. This contained a set of connecting metals controlling the machinery.  Things like this are a find of gold for your personal interest.

And the further we came back to the station the more it became over grown - here you can see the blades of a point.

It feels sad to see the track like this and it makes you think of the history of what ran upon the rails throughout its working life.
