Ksiegince Railway Station - Main Building Platform
In the above photo you can see the various track signs which will have been used many a time in the past. Just by the clock on the main building wall and just inside the station building is a "modernish" railway control room which is still being manned and operated.
This shot taken from the main Station Platform looks across the level crossing and there on the right is the tiny station building - Just to the right of the car and if you look closely you can just make out the black buffer stop lamp. This is an old track largely grown over and disconnected from the main lines.
And here is the tine station building on the outward track from Wroclaw.
Now this is an interesting photo for you. Taken further along the track away from the main Station Building and where the double track changes to a single two way track section which passes over the river bridge as mention in our first Blog. Note the red rectangular signal and beyond the vegetation growth consuming the old unused track section. Although there is a return point this too is not used as it is completely overgrown. Further after checking - some of the track rail has also been removed.
Heading out of Wroclaw is the goods train - the Engine and rack was traveling slowly as it has to travel over the points to change tracks - see next images.
Moving slowly taking care not to derail - this rake moves onto the single track section.
The tail end of it's two bogie bolster wagons follows through - and to think that this happens in both directions so many times a day and for how ever many, many years.
Just having traveled over the River Bridge and along the single tracked section hooting its horn is this fast Intercity train - Points are reset for it to travel straight forward, needless to say I was a bit close to the line here - see image below for a closer view of this locomotive.
Take note of the buffer stop, referenced in another picture, the track had two points on it and also spurred off to another siding; can but imagine what may have been the traffic here long ago as it is only a very small village and only currently farming is the main work here.
Thundering through from the single track into it's own track on the double section hurries this EP07 intercity Loco and several coaching stock it heading to Wroclaw Main Station but not sure of it's final destination.
Now interestingly on the Polish Railway system there are many different National and private owned and operated Locomotives including Class 66s from the UK (We hope to capture one of these soon) But here is a German DB Class 189 in it bright clean red livery. This one is heading in the direction of Wroclaw but for sure it will travel further. Oh by the way it had 42 wagons in it's rake, amazing eh!!
