The Class 22 is a type of Bo-Bo diesel locomotive designed for the Western Region of BR and built by NBL. This Class has a nickname being the Baby Warship due to a similarity to the Class 42 Warship locomotive. 57 locomotives were built during the period 1959 to 1962 and operated in the West of England hauling both freight and passenger coaches.

Sadly the class was eventually replaced by more powerful and reliable locomotives being Hymeks and Warships, due to the bankruptcy of NBL in 1962 and the finally due to a lack of spares. By 1971 all the Class 22 locomotives had been decommissioned and amazingly not a single one has survived for preservation.
